Digital Drop-in: Stitching Solutions

Sat, May 2, 2020

Sign on for a live artist-led tutorial on experimenting with craft and design processes using recycled materials found at home. During this fun and informal workshop, artist, educator, and Artist Studios alum Jennie Maydew will demonstrate transferable textile techniques to enhance the structure, beauty, or function of household items.

MAD’s Digital Drop-ins are for participants of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Following the demonstration, participants will have time to independently work on their project and share with “neighbors” in the virtual class.

All Digital Drop-ins will be 45 minutes. Registrants will receive an email 24 hours in advance of the program with instructions for accessing the workshop on Zoom.

In advance of the workshop, gather the following materials:

Sewing needle

Any "thread" that will fit in the needle (alternatives: dental floss, rope, twine, hair, yarn, wire, pull the threads out of existing fabric)

Stitching surface (fabric, paper, garment in need of mending, plastic or paper bag, receipts, dish towel, leaf, envelope)

Writing utensil and paper for note taking or sketching

Optional: Embroidery hoop or DIY alternative
