AIGA NY: Lessons from a Decade of Designing AI

Thu, Feb 26 / 6:30–7:30 pm

Barron Webster

As AI becomes deeply embedded in the products and platforms we use every day, designers are being asked to work with systems that are complex, unpredictable, and constantly evolving. How do you design for something you can’t fully see or control?

Join Figma designer Barron Webster, as he shares lessons from more than a decade of working at the intersection of design, machine learning, and emerging technology. Drawing from real-world projects across industries, Barron will unpack what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what he wishes he’d known earlier in his career.

Whether you’re actively designing AI-powered tools or just beginning to explore the space, this talk offers rare insight into how thoughtful design can shape and humanize even the most complex systems.

Barron Webster is a NY-based software designer who has spent the last decade working with AI. Former projects include launching Google Lens and building AI programming tools at Replit. Most recently he joined Figma as a model designer, working on improving the creative performance of the models designers will use.
