Who Says a Museum Must Be an Institution? A Master Class with Murray Moss
Exploring alternatives to today's general paradigm of 'museum' - particularly museums that exhibit both art and design - Murray Moss, leading figure in the world of design, holds a one-of-a-kind master class at MAD. Moss, Mr. Moss's iconic NYC design gallery and showroom for 18 years, was perceived to be an alternative museum." Elaborating on certain key exhibitions, Moss will discuss with the audience their opinions on the formation and presentation of art and design outside of traditional gallery walls.
Mr. Moss has designed and mounted over 100 exhibitions at his various venues - Moss NY, Moss LA, Design Miami, Basel, Phillips de Pury, and the Victoria & Albert Museum - and will draw from approximately 24 of these for the master class. He will use images as catalysts to informally but candidly discuss specific alternatives to today's standards for the display of art and design in museums, as well as at home.
