Lobby Attendant
(Part-Time / Permanent)
The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks two Part-Time Lobby Attendants to serve as the first point of contact for visitors, members, donors, staff, vendors, contractors, and delivery personnel. Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
Together, the two positions will provide coverage during Museum hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Individual schedules will be based on operational needs and may include evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Security Manager.
The Lobby Attendant helps create a welcoming, safe, and organized environment by greeting visitors, providing directions and information, accepting deliveries, maintaining lobby order, and supporting daily Museum operations. As a highly visible representative of MAD, the Lobby Attendant must maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and exceptional customer service standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors, members, donors, staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Provide directions, answer questions, and assist with wayfinding and accessibility needs.
- Monitor the lobby to ensure a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment.
- Assist with visitor flow during exhibitions, programs, and special events.
- Receive deliveries and packages and notify appropriate staff or departments.
- Maintain delivery records and coordinate with Museum departments as needed.
- Assist vendors and contractors with access and directions.
- Observe and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, suspicious activity, or visitor incidents.
- Support emergency procedures and maintain compliance with Museum policies and building regulations.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding visitor needs and operational issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid New York State F-03 Fire Guard Certification required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- One year of customer service, hospitality, reception, concierge, visitor services, security, or related experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a busy public-facing environment and respond quickly to emergencies.
