Jeremy Irvin
Jeremy Irvin is an artist based in Ellensburg, Washington. His work combines traditional silversmithing techniques with carved acrylic and precious metal leaf, in an attempt to expand the visual vocabulary available to the world of art jewelry without compromising the integrity of the precepts of craft. He creates visual effects by adhering fine gold and silver leaf to carved acrylic glass lenses, which he then sets in sterling silver frames or bonds to acrylic backplates. The son of a Japanese immigrant, Irvin was born and raised on the windward side of Oahu, Hawaii. He draws inspiration from the ocean, as well as works from the great Modernist painters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, to create the visual systems that he uses in his jewelry.
