Michal Lando is a New York–based jewelry artist who makes work out of nylon mesh and resin. Her latest work uses manipulated photographs to explore ways of seeing, and to play on the idea of material. Nylon mesh, a three-dimensional material that has formed the basis of her work for many years, gets abstracted through the camera lens, and further abstracted through computer manipulations and collage. The camera, which we typically think of as reproducing reality, is used instead to create drawing-like images with a mysterious reality of their own.
