Born in Bonn, Germany, Silke Lazarević runs her own atelier in the north of the country. Sustainability is a main topic in her artwork, which she makes using fair-trade silver and gold. Lazarević focuses on natural materials, with the aim of expressing their inherent qualities and various potentialities. She finds inspiration in the coincidence involved in the process of working with parchment, which as a natural product follows its own logic. She is fascinated by the contrast of shapes and surfaces, positive and negative forms, and the balance of volume and lightness, light and shadow, perforations and immaculate parts.
