Namkyung Lee
South Korean jewelry artist Namkyung Lee takes her inspiration from windows and the views through them. She writes: “The feelings and memories aroused by gazing through windows stay with us as images, distorted and layered.” Lee uses sills, walls, objects, spaces, and scenes drawn from her memory to create composite spaces, which she then embodies as jewelry. Her own photographs, transferred onto windows, express moments and memories; faded colors and patterns serve as symbols of memories dimmed through time. With her current collection, she hopes to inspire in wearers the same recall and composure brought about when viewing the space beyond the window.
