Martina Dempf is a German jewelry designer and social anthropologist who lives and works in Berlin. Her creations are inspired by the artistic traditions of archaic cultures and by the philosophy of nature, the source of the basic raw materials for the world’s earliest artistic expressions. Human life is impossible to imagine without wood, as a material for subsistence and for creating art. Dempf collects unique pieces of raw wood, with which she keeps close visual and inspirational contact for years, gradually coming closer to understanding their individual character. Using traditional techniques, she combines the wood with silver to create one-of-a-kind art jewelry that triggers curiosity and imagination, inviting beholders to explore the story, take the object in their hands, and adorn themselves.
