South Korean jewelry artist Jaesun Won has studied and worked within both Eastern and Western cultures, and her distinctive style blends the two in a subtle and philosophical way. She considers line to be the core of her artworks, referencing this fundamental and universal element throughout her creative process. Elegantly drawing in 3D with stainless steel, Won plays with space created between the lines, crafting a four-dimensional illusion. She dresses each line in colored thread in a delicate and precise process, combining contrasting materials to create a mesmerizing harmony. Won came to this process following a long-lasting frustration with the color limitations inherent in metalwork. The application of color brings breath and life to the metal’s stillness, with the soft thread fully encompassing the rigid material.
