Emily Kidson is an award-winning jeweler who studied BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Craft at the University of Brighton and is now based in London, England.
She designs and makes mixed-media contemporary jewelry that combines a minimal aesthetic with splashes of color and clusters of detail. Inspired by repetition and small details from spots on the pavement to stripy steps at a railway station, Kidson uses her sketchbook to draw initial ideas. Designs develop with model making and then progress as she works intuitively with her chosen materials. Combining clear, open space alongside multiple components and patterns, Kidson makes work that looks for a balanced composition. Working with wood, laminate, silver and more, she makes one of a kind pieces and small limited editions. Kidson really enjoys the process of making and each piece is made by hand in her studio.
