Debbie Adamson
Debbie grew up in rural Central Otago, New Zealand. She studied Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the Otago Polytechnic School of Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009.
In 2011 Adamson was invited to participate in the first ‘Handshake’ project, where she collaborated with mentor Hanna Hedman on a series of exhibitions for the following three years. During this time she also lived and worked in the Central Otago workshop of Goldsmith Kobi Bosshard.
Adamson is interested in the way we manipulate and identify with the ‘natural’ world. In her current series she has used materials that are synthetic, or produced with extensive human intervention, to create necklaces and brooches that reference tactile and textured elements of our surroundings.
She is currently based in Dunedin, New Zealand, where she shares a workshop in the city center with other local jewelers.
