Abigail Brown has been producing contemporary designs in silverware and jewelry for 14 years. She produces work predominantly in silver using a traditional hammer forming technique. Her jewelry is currently focused on the theme “Silversmithing for the Body,” using classic silversmithing techniques to create large pieces of jewelry or “sculpture” for the body and the domestic environment. The theme “Body as Landscape” is also a recurring source of inspiration and investigation. Brown designs pieces that signify the warmth and softness of flesh in a material that is by nature hard and cold, creating a piece of jewelry that is tactile and sensual, and that invites interaction.
