My practice reflects on the biological and cultural forces that shape symbiotic relations among living things. Guided by plant and animal morphology, I use clay to build sculptures that articulate and protect inner worlds. I explore themes of somatic awareness and habitation through constructing structures that reference caves, nests, and anatomical cavities. Integrating and juxtaposing ceramics with digital processes, I investigate experiences of scale and materiality--what it means to feel small in a vast network, how to live in a body that is home to many smaller worlds.—Rhea Barve
