New York–based designers Sue-Yee Leung and Ian Henderson collaboratively create biomorphic handmade jewelry featuring rhythmic, flowing patterns of cut rubber layered over forged aluminum. The collection conjures images of prickly sea creatures and thorny blossoms, while the use of soft rubber ensures that each piece is comfortable to wear and pleasantly tactile.
Leung and Henderson develop their designs intuitively and iteratively, as a dialogue between process and material. Rather than working toward a predetermined form, they cut and assemble small pieces of rubber in accordance with a rule set, which ultimately generates a form that they would not have otherwise imagined.
