Pilar Viedma
Pilar Viedma (Spain) trained as a pharmacist and earned a doctorate in medicine before pursuing her passion for art. Seeking to develop her creativity, she studied jewelry design at the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny (EASD) in Valencia, where she was awarded the Extraordinary Prize for her work.
Viedma’s work explores various techniques for applying color to metal, emphasizing that in artistic jewelry, the material itself is secondary to its expressive potential. She frequently employs copper mesh, a material whose unique texture and malleability allow her to explore the interplay between form and color. Additionally, she works with recycled silver, crafting clean, elegant designs rich in curves.
Drawing inspiration from the simplicity and monumentality of the natural world, Viedma’s creations reflect her fascination with both nature and human potential. Her jewelry conveys a sense of positivity, effort, enthusiasm, and a deep connection to the environment.
