Marge Hinge
In her studio in Providence, Rhode Island, Marge Hinge creates evocative, empowering jewels that capture the wonders of the earth’s materials. Her practice seeks to take the beauty of a semiprecious stone and make it wearable without the barriers of metal. From rocks to feathers to metal, she studies materiality and works with color and form to create what she calls wearable talismans, noting that people often find themselves drawn to certain stones and feel they benefit from wearing them. Hinge works directly with miners around the world to source her materials. She often makes pieces for clients who don’t normally wear jewelry, but who want to feel connected to the earth and carry a piece of it with them.
