Jorge Gil
Jorge Gil is a Cuban designer, sculptor, and jeweler working in titanium. When he began designing jewelry, titanium had no history in the medium; he chose it as the protagonist in his work because, he says, “no other metal represents the character and dynamic of the modern era in such diverse ways.” Also passionate about engineering, he harnesses technical ingenuity and the inherent possibilities of titanium to create jewelry using a minimum of formal resources. His focus on technical exploration leads him to the discovery of the form, and vice versa. Fabricated in Havana, his designs are wearable, intended to align with the human body in an emphatic and poetic way.
