Hoyeon Chung
South Korean studio artist Hoyeon Chung is based in Seoul and has a second studio in Illinois. She works intuitively and spontaneously, combining metal, her own drawings, and a variety of other materials to create mixed-media art jewelry. In her practice, she seeks to visualize her understanding of time as interpreted through her own personal transformations. She is interested in the process by which memories accumulate, and in the different ways people remember the same experience. She uses polyester for its lightness, flexibility, and permeability, properties that enable the delicate representation of color through overlay and thermoforming.
