Based in Riga, Latvia, Guntis Lauders is one of the most well-known names in Latvian jewelry design. While his artistic style is recognizable, he is always in search of new impressions, materials, and forms. His works are picturesque, imagination-kindling, and unique, with their own visual language. He uses durable and sustainable materials that will maintain their value and aesthetics over time: silver and gold, precious stones, amber, fossils, coconut shell, mahogany and ebony—materials that can be reused, joined, and finished using the classic technologies of jewelry art. He is influenced by his study of ancient cultures and, especially, by nature: fish, animals, shadows from the trees, clouds in the sky, wind playing in the fields. He gathers these inspirations, which later find expression in his jewelry.
