Esther Ortiz Villajos
Esther Ortiz Villajos (Spain) is a jewelry artist and architect based in Madrid. She approaches jewelry as a site of experimentation where craftsmanship and technology converge. Drawing on her architectural training, she condenses concerns of geometry, structure, form and function balance into the intimate scale of the object. Jewelry becomes her most direct artistic medium, allowing rigorous control of process while fully materializing conceptual investigations.
In the Isometries collection, Ortiz Villajos examines the plastic flexibility of geometry through strategies that generate movement and perceptual tension. Isometric operations, sliding, turning, and rotation transform stable forms such as the square into dynamic structures without relinquishing their geometric essence. Intervened mesh planes and layered surfaces create subtle vibrations and interstitial spaces, while color frames and activates perception. As light interacts with each piece, visual weight shifts from opacity toward lightness, resulting in joyful, chromatic works in which geometry achieves a state of dynamic equilibrium.
