Anna Bonino
A Brazilian-born designer based in Milan, Anna Bonino gives old books new life by transforming them into lightweight jewelry, sculptures, and paper flowers. She searches out books made with high-quality paper, complete with patina and stains. Bonino's jewelry combines the paper element with finds from her travels and international art fairs. For her long-stemmed paper flowers, she paints loose pages and assembles them by hand, leaving printed words visible through the layers of color. To make her sculptures, she hand-folds whole pages of old Italian books from the 1920s to the 1990s, using different techniques to obtain the desired shape and effect. Each one-of-a-kind piece is handmade in Italy.
