In this whimsical hands-on workshop, participants will take a trip to the galleries of Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft, and Design, and re-imagine the possibilities of what a chair is. Taking a close look at the wild interpretations of chairs in the exhibit, participants will discover the latest innovative techniques and materials being used by contemporary woodworkers today. Participants will then use a range of tactile and sculptural materials to create exhibition-inspired model chairs that may blur the boundaries between form and function.
This workshop is appropriate for families with children ages 6 and up. All materials provided.
