The Fashion Jewelry: Collection of Barbara Berger exhibition is all about drama and excess, which incorporates many different materials for a unique, humorous quality. Bright colors, varied textures and natural forms help create these wearable pieces of art. On this Studio Sunday, families will look at the collection of Barbara Berger and think about how color, texture, scale and material help tell a story about the wearer of this jewelry..... who might wear this necklace? Where would they be going? This narrative based approach will lead into the activity of making “pendants for a crazy party” with varied materials.
On the first Sunday of the month, join artist education Ashley Bartlett to explore the galleries followed by a hands on workshop inspired by the objects in the exhibition. This program is suitable for families with children ages 6 and up. At MAD, our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn through their hands while having a good time together in our galleries and studio.
