Table and Chair, Craft and Design
Looking to the craftsman-designers of the 1940s-50s, and Modernist sculptors, architects, furniture-makers and designers for inspiration, create a very handmade work of art in cardboard. Learning new techniques for working with this commonplace material, participants are invited to envision a functional or non functional work of art using the everyday table and chair as a point of departure for their work.
On the first Sunday of the month, join a professional artist to explore the galleries followed by a hands-on workshop inspired by the objects in the exhibition. This program is suitable for ages 6 and up. At MAD, our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn through their hands while having a good time together in our galleries and studio. Drop in allowed, registration is highly encouraged.
