During this hands-on workshop, visitors will find inspiration from the immense accumulation of jewelry in our most recent exhibition Fashion Jewelry: The Collection of Barbara Berger; and some of the most cutting-edge conceptual and technical trends in wearable artworks in Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft and Design. Visitors will go on a guided exploration through MAD’s galleries, discovering the techniques contemporary artists use to skillfully turn ubiquitous materials into eye catching wearable artworks. Then, visitors will create their own wearable artworks out of materials such as wood, specialty paper, natural fibers and more.
