Sake Tasting and Tenugui Workshop

Sun, Apr 23, 2023

Enjoy a spirited afternoon exploring the worlds of handcrafted sake and Japanese tenugui textiles with MAD and Brooklyn’s Bin Bin Sake!  Together with MAD chief curator Elissa Auther and sake experts George Padilla and Sophia Sioris, taste a curated selection of four sake pours and learn about the art of gift wrapping with tenugui—Japanese hand-dyed cloth—in a demonstration led Ruri Kabashima Kippenbrock of Wuhao New York Inc.

Bin Bin Sake

Bin Bin Sake is a unique neighborhood retail bottle shop on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn. The shop specializes in sake, both nihonshu (Japanese sake) and jizake (locally produced sake). The shop also champions an extensive shochu selection, along with Japanese whisky plus other spirits, and an eclectic natural wine corner.

Wuhao New York Inc.

Established in 2007 by Ruri Kabashima Kippenbrock, Wuhao New York Inc. is based in New York City and offers Japanese tenugui (traditional towels), noren (Japanese fabric dividers), and other types of Japanese hand-dyed and printed products. Our company philosophy is evolution of tradition––we learn from tradition and live with evolution. We would like to bring you simple pleasures along with Japanese history, tradition, culture, and stories through our products.
