Professional Development Workshop

Tue, Nov 5, 2019

K-12 educators in a range of subjects are invited to participate in a full-day professional development workshop inspired by MAD's fall exhibitions and the female designers, tastemakers, and entrepreneurs they celebrate. The program will kick off with an exploration of Vera Paints a Scarf: The Art and Design of Vera Neumann and a hands-on workshop on creating textile designs using nature’s forms and patterns and facilitated by artist, designer, and educator Karen Fuchs. In the afternoon, curator Barbara Paris Gifford will take participants on a tour of The World of Anna Suifollowed by gallery activities and discussion with MAD's artist educators.

Teachers’ Professional Development at MAD complements and expands upon educators’ existing knowledge of contemporary art, craft, and design. Led by artists, curators, and museum educators, participatory workshops are designed to help K–12 educators discover creative ways of interpreting and presenting fundamental concepts in all subject areas, using art, craft, and design as a bridge for comprehension.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
