Join artist-in-residence Anna Riley to experiment with the mold and deckle papermaking process, using traditional fibers and non-traditional inclusions that are often overlooked. Visitors are welcome to utilize additional materials to create meaning in this process (perhaps a slip of paper from the bottom of one’s backpack or that unruly thread on one’s shirt). Riley hopes that in the process of making thin sheets of paper, visitors will rethink materials and also consider how they can be used and manipulated.
Led by MAD’s artists-in-residence, MADmakes is a drop-in, hands-on series where visitors can test their skills at art making and creative production. MADmakes provides an opportunity for visitors to better understand and appreciate the workmanship that goes into contemporary studio practice today. Visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels are invited to create something new every month.
Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
