MAD Moments with Lowery Stokes Sims

Mon, Mar 22, 2021

Join chief curator Elissa Auther alongside MAD curator emerita Lowery Stokes Sims for a conversation about their experiences working with artists such as Eduardo Sarabia, Robert Colescott, and others who use transgressive imagery. Drawing insight from Stokes Sims’ research, the pair will share challenging curatorial decisions, explore the process of putting together an exhibition that may spark controversy, and how museums are evolving our understanding of transgressive art today.

Note: some images shown will not be suitable for all audiences, this program is recommended for adults.
