Pull up a virtual chair and join associate curator Barbara Paris Gifford for an online visit with artist Georgina Trevino. In the MAD Loupe spotlights artists who are the future of contemporary art jewelry, and this one is no exception. Hear directly from Trevino—a millennial jeweler—about her journey developing her practice, her many collaborations, and her partnerships with some of the world’s most exciting musicians. Get a sneak peek at what she’s currently working on in her San Diego studio before asking your questions during the interactive Q&A.

Georgina Trevino is a contemporary jeweler and artist from Tijuana, Mexico, currently living in San Diego, California. In 2004 she earned a BA in Applied Design with an Emphasis in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from San Diego State University. Her work has been featured in magazines such as LA Times, Elle, Vogue, Allure, Marie Claire, The Fader, Paper, and Playboy.  She has worked directly with celebrities like Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Rosalia, Lizzo, Doja Cat, and Party Next Door and brands like Nike and Fenty. Trevino has been part of several international exhibitions, including Schmuck, Munich (2015), Love Jewels, curated by Smitten Collective, Belgium (2019), and LoFi Faces at MJW2020, Munich.  In 2020, Trevino also exhibited during New York City Jewelry Week, the Amend exhibition curated by Kerianne Quick and Jessica Tolbert, and In-School Suspension curated by JV Collective. She is currently working on a collaborative project, “Covid Collab Series,” consisting of collaborations with artists from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds. This series supports creatives during the pandemic and promotes their work through Trevino’s platforms. The series features limited edition pieces and an upcoming catalog.
