The Last Address

as part of a Day With(out) Art

Wed, Dec 1 / 11 am

In collaboration with Visual AIDS, a New York City-based contemporary arts organization committed to HIV prevention and AIDS awareness through producing and presenting visual art projects, the Museum of Arts and Design presents Ira Sach’s film “The Last Address” to mark more than 20 years of Day With(out) Art, a national day of action and remembrance that coincides with World AIDS Day.

Screening on a loop in MAD's historic theater, “The Last Address” uses images of the exteriors of the houses, apartment buildings, and lofts where New York artists—from Keith Haring to Klaus Nomi—were living at the time of their deaths from AIDS-related complications. These empty living spaces symbolize the disappearance of a generation. Both a requiem of the lives lost to the AIDS epidemic and an evocation of the continued presence of these artists work in our lives and culture, “The Last Address” reminds us of the impact of the disease in the creative community.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
