Educator Open House

Fri, Mar 2, 2018

Join us to examine how the Personal is Political in the art, craft, and design practice of several artists whose work focuses on social justice and identity politics this season. K-12 teachers, museum educators, and college instructors are invited to an afternoon of free hands-on activities, artist workshops, and tours led by guest curator Dexter Wimberly and Assistant Curator Barbara Gifford, of Derrick Adams: Sanctuary and La Frontera: Encounters Along the Border, respectively. Both exhibitions offer exceptional opportunities to forge meaningful connections between contemporary artistic practice, students' personal stories, and social justice concerns in the larger context of American history. Come to MAD and participate in these important discussions that are central to the experience of the racially and economically diverse NYC-area youth and learn more about how MAD can be a valuable teaching resource.

RSVPs are not required but encouraged. Please email petra.pankow@madmuseum.org to sign up.

MAD is pleased to offer this event in partnership with the NYC Department of Education.
