MAD invites artists and designers to create works that interact with the interior architecture of the Museum's lobby. For our current exhibition The World of Anna Sui, one of the designer's longtime collaborators, photographer and artist Dean "Chooch" Landry, created this distinctive trompe l'oeil artwork referencing the storefront architecture of the designer's first boutique, which opened in 1992 on Greene Street in New York's SoHo neighborhod. After passing through the threshold of the illustrative façade, visitors enter surrealist enviornments within each elevator and encounter graphic icons core to the Sui brand. This is the first glimpse into The World of Anna Sui now on view on the Museum's fourth and fifth floors.
The installation was curated by Joshua Graver, Creative Director of the Museum.
