Graphic Designer

(Full-Time / Permanent)

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks a full-time Graphic Designer to join its Communications and Marketing team. Reporting to the Deputy Director, and collaborating with colleagues across Museum departments, the Graphic Designer will work in a fast-paced environment, generating a broad range of branded materials for print, web, and motion that support institutional goals, including marketing and advertising initiatives, fundraising activities, special events, and more.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, exempt position with compensation between $70,000-$75,000 per annum, depending on experience. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, onsite at the Museum, from 9:30 am-5:30 pm.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Deputy Director, conceptualize, develop and produce compelling designs for a variety of print, digital, and environmental applications, all consistent with MAD’s brand identity standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design compelling print and digital ad campaigns that spur awareness of MAD and contribute to admissions revenue goals
  • Design and create a variety of promotional videos, animation, and assets for use in digital marketing efforts (website, social media, eblasts) for major exhibitions, programs, and events
  • Update and/or create signage systems (digital and print) that promote programming and support visitor wayfinding onsite
  • Design and produce materials to support the Museum’s fundraising and campaign initiatives, including digital and print collateral for membership acquisition, event invitations, etc.
  • Support exhibition design occasionally with bespoke graphic design needs (i.e., timelines, title graphics, etc.)
  • Support The Store at MAD with the design of promotional signage and advertising, as needed
  • Update and/or create templates for routine design needs (i.e., digital letterhead, presentation decks, email signatures, etc.) for use by Museum colleagues
  • Work independently to develop design concepts and layouts for assigned design jobs, generating multiple solutions for consideration and review by supervisor and internal clients
  • Manage the design and production process from start to finish, including participation in intake meetings from internal clients, project management, securing estimates, and production supervision
  • Communicate and collaborate frequently with Marketing colleagues and other departments across the Museum

QUALIFICATIONS     

  • BFA in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional graphic design experience
  • Ability to understand and implement established brand guidelines and visual identities across print and digital applications
  • Exceptional typographic and layout skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a close attention to detail
  • Ability to move seamlessly from project to project and juggle multiple priorities, as required
  • Collaborative work style, with strong client relations and communications skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
  • Motion graphics experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects / Sketch / Cinema 4D, a plus
  • Experience with UX/UI design desired
  • Knowledge of contemporary art, design, and craft desirable
