Marta Edöcs is a Hungarian glass and jewelry artist who worked on architectural commissions for many years before switching to gallery works and jewelry. Her handcrafted jewelry centers on glass beads, which she makes with a torch or casts in the kiln. More interested in shapes, surfaces, and the messages conveyed in the pieces than in the typical properties of glass, she grinds and coldworks the beads to create a smooth matte finish before combining them with silver. Edöcs finds inspiration in nature, searching for harmony and translating memories and moods to create organic wearable art objects. Known for her unique jewelry designs, she is also a celebrated teacher, leading workshops around the world on kiln glass, bead making, and silver jewelry techniques.
