The Museum of Arts and Design has selected Rachelle Dang as its eleventh MAD Artist Fellow. Created in 2016, the fellowship is a full-time opportunity dedicated to promoting emerging artists from historically underrepresented communities by providing a stipend, dedicated studio space, and professional development opportunities.
About the artist
A 2021 MAD Burke Prize finalist, Rachelle Dang combines sculpture and installation to comment on colonialism’s lasting impact on the natural environment. By bringing together historical material, botanical research, personal memories, and poetic allusion, she encourages audiences to deconstruct the past and reimagine the future. Dang was born in Honolulu and lives in Brooklyn.
