Mallory Weston

2016 Artist In Residence

Mallory Weston works with a variety of media including metal, fiber, concrete and spray-paint creating bold, compelling and interactive wearable art.  Her work is a marriage between traditional jewelry techniques and textile techniques in which large wearable pieces look like metal, but move with the fluidity of fabric.

Most recently, her work has revolved around a fascination with snakes, both in their form as compelling animals in nature and symbolically in what they represent.  While in residence at MAD, Weston will continue pushing serpentine imagery, symbolism and dichotomies to create new work not traditionally associated with jewelry.

Weston received her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, her BFA from The University of the Arts in Crafts with a concentration in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, and teaches at a variety of schools and universities in the New York tri-state area.
