David Choi received his BFA in Metal from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009 and his MFA in 2011 from the State University of New York at New Paltz. In 2010, David received SNAG Educational Endowment Scholarship and he was a finalist of 2010 NICHE Student Awards. He has shown his work at invitational and juried exhibitions both in the United States and abroad.
His jewelry lives between design and craft. He focuses on utilizing CAD program and hand-fabrication to broaden and diversify his expression in making jewelry.
“The process is much more like a fold/sculpted origami. The monotony of different planes generates a whole series of interesting forms which describes the transition from two dimensions to three dimensions. When creating a volume, I explore the interplay between negative and positive, and the juxtaposition between inside and outside.”
