MAD is pleased to present SEEDING, an eco-conference guest curated by Michael Bullock and Felix Burrichter on the occasion of PIN–UP magazine’s garden and landscape issue. The day-long event will address cultural, physical, and spiritual cross-pollination from an ecological, economic and holistic point of view. From architectural utopia to environmental and fiscal activism, SEEDING brings together visionary models for the present and the future.

PIN-UP is a biannual architecture and design magazine (“Magazine for Architectural Entertainment”) that regularly features interviews with renowned architects as well as critical essays and photography portfolios on contemporary architecture, art, and design. In 2011, the Art Directors Club awarded PIN-UP the Gold Medal for Editorial Design and in 2013 PIN-UP published its first book, INTERVIEWS, a compilation of 68 interviews taken from the magazine’s first issues. PIN-UP’s 20th iteration has the theme “Garden Variety” and is on newsstands in May 2016.

SEEDING will take place at the Museum of Arts and Design on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm with installations and workshops on the 7th floor and concurrent talks and screenings in the museum’s theater on the ground level.

Programs for both mind and body include “Rise and Shine” yoga with Dominican pop-star Maluca Mala, an interview with famed architect Bjarke Ingels, a professional Ikebana flower workshop, a guided meditation installation by the artist collective Yemenwed, keynote address by original eco-architect James Wines, and the New York premiere of the short film Connected, directed by Luke Gilford and starring Pamela Anderson, who will both be in attendance for a post-screening conversation / Q&A.

All events are included with SEEDING eco-conference ticket with the exception of Yoga and Ikebana workshops that require additional ticketing.

SEEDING is organized by Katerina Llanes, Manager of Public Programs, at the Museum of Arts and Design.
