Wednesday Workshop- Wool Felt Pins

Wed, Jan 27 / 2 pm

This program is now SOLD OUT!

On one Wednesday each month, MAD opens its studios for a hands-on workshop with the pros! This is the perfect opportunity to learn a new technique or hone your D.I.Y. skills, creating a unique object to give or cherish.

Wednesday January 27th, Arlene Mintzer of The Sensuous Fiber will share her passion for fiber arts in this special 2 hour workshop. Participants will experiment with color, texture, and shape to design their own unique piece of wearable art. This beginner’s workshop with artist and textile-maker Arlene Mintzer explores fiber arts as a creative and joyful experience. Participants will make a unique pin out of 100% wool felt. By creating felt shapes and combining colors with a variety of adornments, participants have infinite opportunities for self expression.

Arlene Mintzer is a faculty member at Parson's New School of Design, and has been teaching for over 26 years. Her teaching philosophy encourages experimentation, play, a sense of wonderment and creative adventure. Her work has been featured at MAD, the Brooklyn Museum, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and A.I.R. Gallery, among many others. She states that, "The world of fine arts, especially that of painting, has been a constant source of inspiration for my ongoing love affair with the ever changing richness of fiber's vast array of color and texture. My ultimate goal is to always work with as much creative freedom as possible."

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
