Since 2006, Shayne Oliver’s cult label Hood By Air has steadily grown its presence in New York’s downtown scene. This year, with a breakout show during New York fashion week, a slew of celebrity clients, and an industry zeitgeist that has finally caught up with Oliver’s plays on gender, racial, and urban codes in men’s dress, Oliver is indeed poised for what a recent New York Times article has called “a fashion moment.”
