Emerging from the Walker Art Center’s Community Programs and Education Department, and Open Field, a platform of crowdsourced content in the spirit of collaboration and community building, the Internet Cat Video Festival became a runaway smash success, with thousands of audience members in its native Minneapolis, as well as from around the globe.

In its first three years, the festival has already played in over 80 venues, and counting. In museums, theaters, community centers, and film festivals, the sites present a rotating line up of videos that are doing all of the things compelling art should: raising questions, challenging assumptions, angering people, and—in the case of this festival—creating a real experience.
