When the calendar flips to October, thoughts naturally turn to horror. But with films of the season often dominated by calculated studio releases, it's refreshing to recall the genre's true diversity in all its artistic forms: the whimsical, the shocking, the lyrical... and the disturbingly personal. That's the job of Daggers, the short festival of short horror, presented this fall at MAD. Curated by Peter Gutierrez, frequent contributor to Rue Morgue and TribecaFilm.Com, this unique mini-fest presents an array of sinister morsels culled from the international festival circuit. Distilled, uncompromising, eclectic, and, most of all, surprising, Daggers is an event of exquisite mayhem that's not to be missed.
