Visionaries! 2013 Gala

Wed, Nov 20, 2013

Please join us for our annual Visionaries! Gala on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Mandarin Oriental.

This year, MAD will honor luminaries from the worlds of art and design, Materialise and CEO Wilfried Vancraen, internationally-renowned artist Frank Stella, Rick Kinsel, Executive Director, the Vilcek Foundation, and jewelry designer and business leaders David and Sybil Yurman. As leaders in their fields, these individuals exemplify the Museum’s mission to explore contemporary creativity across all media. We hope you will be able to join us November 20, 2013 as we not only celebrate their many innovations and achievements but also MAD’s 5th anniversary at 2 Columbus Circle.

Materialise and CEO Wilfried Vancraen, will be honored for the company’s leadership and extraordinary commitment to technological innovation in additive manufacturing (3D printing). Materialise is honored on the occasion of its inclusion in MAD's Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital.

Frank Stella is also honored this year on the occasion of his participation in Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital.  An innovator throughout his career, Stella has constantly explored new avenues of expression through varied and far-reaching bodies of work.

Rick Kinsel and the Vilcek Foundation will be honored for their contributions to arts philanthropy, support of emerging artists and designers, and their commitment to raise public awareness of the contributions of immigrants to the sciences, arts, and culture in the United States.

David and Sybil Yurman, founders and creative directors of David Yurman, the brand and company, will be honored for their enduring contributions to the world of style internationally. David Yurman, long an innovator in the world of jewelry, will celebrate 30 years of its iconic cable design in 2014. Over the last three decades, David Yurman has created an incredible legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.

The evening begins at 7:15pm with a reception and silent auction featuring luxury goods, design items, jewelry, travel getaways, and dining packages. A seated dinner and the awards presentations will follow at 8:15pm.  It is sure to be an exciting evening, we hope to see you there!
