Studio Sunday

Join artist educators Jano Cortijo and Cody Rae Knue to explore the NYC cityscape

Sun, Apr 12 / 2 pm

Visitors will explore and recreate well known New York destinations by making their own visual interpretations of city views using materials and techniques similar to those used by Richard Estes. Through analog photographic composition, participants will use different views from various New York locations to construct their own, personal version of the city. The resulting image will be converted into a hand drawn picture, which visitors can customize with details and embellishments giving their picture a striking 3D quality.

Studio Sundays, held once monthly offers countless opportunities to learn and explore. These intergenerational workshops are included with museum admission for families to work with artist-educators who provide insight into creative processes, inspired by MAD’s exhibitions. Each Studio Sunday workshop is unique, and open to anyone age 6 and up.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
