Chris Pellettieri's Stone Carving Studio

Tue, Apr 1–Sun, May 18

Chris Pellettieri

From Tuesday, April 1 – Sunday, May 18, Chris Pellettieri will be creating a new work for the upcoming exhibition NYC Makers: The MAD Biennial. Museum visitors are welcome to observe his work in-progress in the Artist Studios. Inspired by the ancient Roman god Janus, Pellettieri is creating a two-faced sculpture relating Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities to present-day New York City.

Stone carver Chris Pellettieri received his training 20 years ago at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, in a unique program that offered paid apprenticeships in the very challenging field of stone masonry. The winner of the 2009 Arthur Ross Award in Artisanship from the Institute for Classical Architecture & Classical America, Pellettieri specializes in free-hand sculpture, decorative design, portraiture, casting and lettering.
