Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 2 -- Contemporary Native North American Art from the West, Northwest & Pacific

September 22, 2005 - January 22, 2006

Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 2--Contemporary Native North American Art from the West, Northwest & Pacific is the second in a series of groundbreaking exhibitions that explores work by a selected group of Native artists who are challenging preconceived notions of art and culture that heretofore defined Native American art primarily as anthropological artifacts. While Changing Hands, 1 explored work by artists from the Southwest, CH2 will focus on the Plains, Prairie, and Plateau regions west of the Mississippi River to the continental West Coast—including California, Oregon, and Washington—and further westward to Hawai‘i and northward to include Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast and Alaska.

Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 2 – Native North American Art from the West, Northwest & Pacific has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the American Masterpieces Program and the Dobkin Family Foundation. Support for the catalogue has been provided by a major grant from Oldcastle Glass. Additional support has been provided by the Achelis Foundation and Alice and David Rubenstein. The national tour is supported in part by Lowry Hill. Accompanying public programs are underwritten by the American Express Company.
