The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks a Part-Time/Seasonal Registrar to support our Exhibitions and Registrar teams. Compensation starts at $40/hour and is commensurate with experience. The Registrar will generally work ad-hoc for 2–3-week installation and de-installation periods (scheduled in advance and based on the needs of each installation) between the exhibitions cycle. This position reports to the Director of Exhibitions and Collections.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide on-site supervision and care of assigned artworks during installation and de-installation: the packing and handling of incoming and outgoing artwork—referring to and maintaining files regarding installation notes for each piece; completing condition reports; documenting packaging and condition with photography; and organizing documentation in physical and digital files for each artwork
Supervising deliveries and collections on loading dock and elsewhere in Museum
Ensuring art handlers are adhering to museum best practices
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive knowledge of registration practices
Extensive knowledge of museum art handling and packing standards
General proficiency in Windows and database applications (candidates with TMS and/or Crystal Reports proficiency highly desirable)
Candidate must be detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Occasional work on weekends and evenings as necessary

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
BA in Museum Studies or related field, but experience is the most important qualification.
Experience with exhibition registration
Familiarity with international/domestic fine art shipping/crating companies, international crating standards, TSA shipping and screening requirements, experience with 3-D objects a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to lift 50 pounds, work on high lifts and safely operate saws and other power tools
