The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks a Part-Time Maintainer to support our Facilities team. Compensation is $19.44/hour. This is a part-time, non-exempt position at 24 hours per week. This position has extensive engagement with the front-line operations, including providing exceptional customer service to the Museum’s visitors, in addition to assisting in the maintenance and operations of the facility.

  • Heavy and light cleaning and high dusting of offices, galleries, theater, public spaces, restrooms, sidewalks and building exteriors
  • Collecting and disposing of trash
  • Upkeep of restrooms
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Receive and distribute packages throughout building
  • Operate floor maintenance equipment such as buffers, shampooers, burnishers, etc.
  • Assist in event set ups and break downs.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance throughout museum property.
  • Assist with regular and specialized cleaning of building and grounds as necessary, including snow removal.
  • Act as a relief guard as necessary.


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be willing to work overtime, as required
  • Must be willing and able to work Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9:30am – 5:30pm.
  • Two years of custodial experience with floor maintenance equipment
  • Able to do excessive walking, lifting, stair and ladder climbing
  • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force
  • Demonstrated ability to operate all equipment currently in use
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, and operating and maintenance procedures
  • Appropriate written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to calmly interact with patrons/employees
  • Willingness to handle shifting task priorities
